The domestic capital market needs international accounting standards

At the 24th annual conference of the Macedonian Stock Exchange, which this weekend brought together all the leading names from the financial sector in Macedonia, Kosta Kostadinovski, founder of Capital Asset Management, also participated as a panelist.

At the panel discussion “Before and After 2025 – the Impact of Updated Financial Reporting Standards”, he spoke about the significance of the implementation of the new standards and their impact on the domestic capital market.

Kostadinovski emphasized that the adoption of updated international accounting standards is a positive step that deserves support, but at the same time indicated that it is crucial that their application is complete and consistent. According to him, this will allow analysts from investment houses to have a simpler and more realistic comparison of domestic companies with similar companies on a regional and global level, which will contribute to better valuation and greater predictability.

He also underlined that for private and public sector companies that have ambitions to go public, the implementation of the new standards will be a step forward as it will remove an obstacle that will allow them easier access to foreign investors.

“The new rules will increase trust and transparency in companies’ reports, which is a prerequisite for the development of the capital market and attracting fresh investments,” said Kostadinovski.
